Ask the Expert: Hearing Care Practitioner Drew E. Kimbrough

In our next installment of our “Ask the Expert” blog series, we’re featuring Drew E. Kimbrough out of our Spokane Valley, Washington area offices. Drew has been with Beltone for nearly four years and in the hearing care business for 24 years! Let’s get to know a little bit more about Drew.

What do you like best about your career?

The fact that It has afforded me the opportunity to serve people and communities tangibly and impact lives in positive ways.

Why did you choose this career?

To help people and improve the quality of their lives.

What was one of your most rewarding moments as a hearing care practitioner?

Having Tibor Rudas (Producer of Pavarotti and the Three Tenors) tell me, “Drew Pavarotti took my hearing and you gave it back.”

Do you have any accomplishments within your community you’re proud of?

I serve and support the Southside Senior Center along with serving my church. I am also pursuing ACBC certification for Bible Counseling which I do on my off time.

What are your favorite hobbies/pastimes outside of the office?

Riding my mountain and road bicycles.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone who was anxious about getting a hearing aid, what would it be and why?

These are not the same hearing aids your grandparents wore. Hearing aids today allow people to hear conversations in noisy environments like never before and experience the wonders of life in ways never heard possible. They are life changing for sure.

    203 jn9013 so I have the latest updated hearing aids, I have a apple I-phone and the hearing aids r always get hooked up to my phone and then it let me switch programs, wondering if anyone else has this problem or if u can help me. Thanks Dennis

      Hi Dennis,

      If you bought your hearing aids at a Beltone office, please take them to the office to have the Hearing Care Practitioner troubleshoot your issues.

    This letter is to register my complaint with the Beltone Corporation. But first I must tell you some of my background.
    I’m 83 years old and have been using/wearing hearing aids for over 60 years. During that time I was automotive mechanic, shop foreman, service manager at a GMC truck dealership. In 1962 I started teaching Vocational Automotive at Pasadena City College and retired after 37 years there.
    I have enclosed copies of a hearing tests/comments starting 1948 to 2017.

    I have used many different brands of hearing aids, to name a few, Miracle Ear and Costco. My first pair of Beltone Aides was “Legends” purchased 2015 and my second set of Beltone aids are “Trust 17 63DW” purchased November 2017. Let me say this I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PREFORMANCE OF MY PRESENT TRUST AIDS. Due that performance, I am considering purchasing my third set of Beltone “Amaze” aides.

    SO WHAT IS MY COMPLAINT! It’s the “Perfect Clean”system (PCS). I CAN NOT get a year of use with the PCS. I’m on my third PCS with estimated use of 19 months.
    I use the PCS every night except when traveling or in my RV, I use the “PerfectDry Lux” (PDL) system.
    My first PCS was purchased November 2017 and had to be replaced June 05, 2018. It did not last a year. Yes I followed the directions on how to change the Cleaning Solution. And did so about every 45/60 days when the BLUE Flashing quickly with this unit.
    My second PCS was purchased June 07, 2018 and quit working on May 04, 2019. The Cleaning Solution was changed about every 30 days. Except when I traveled during August & October in 2018, I used the PDL system.
    See the dates listed on cover of the enclosed PCS of solution change dates.
    My Third PCS was purchased May 06, 2019. I wonder how long it will last?
    1. I’m very pleased with the way my aides are kept cleaned by using PCS every night.
    2. When changing the solution, the old solution is grossly discolored a dark orange.
    3. Is there a way to clean the tank before REFILL of Cleaning solution?
    4. Can I have Beltone repair this PCS? If so how much $$ for repairs?
    5. Is there refurbished PCS available from Beltone?

    I just got new aids and am amazed by the iPhone hook up. A friend asked if I have hooked it up to my smart tv, is that possible? I tried looking on your website to get this info. Thanks
