Exercise is important for senior health

Just because you may be older in years, doesn’t mean exercising is less important.  Exercise has numerous benefits, and some of the difficulties that can arise during aging, can be delayed or eliminated when seniors stay active.  When it comes to exercising,

Strength training

When people age, bodies begin to naturally lose muscle and bone mass  Strength training is a good way to slow down or even reverse some of the damage. Health experts recommend participating in any kind of exercises that get you up and moving.  You can even do some basic workouts sitting down watching TV with 2 lb weights in each arm.

Endurance exercises

Strength training is a great way to strengthen muscles, but don’t forget cardio.  It is a great idea to ensure that you increase your stamina and endurance and the best way to do that is take long walks, go for a jog, or even ride a bike.

Stretching exercises can help you extend your range of motion. Try yoga or simple stretching exercises. You don’t need expensive equipment to do this.

Exercise can help alleviate some of the pain caused by different diseases and conditions, like the following:

Regular activity is important for those who have this condition. It helps reduce the pain and stiffness that arthritis sufferers sometimes feel in their joints.

Exercise can help improve overall cancer risk from some forms of cancer. Studies have shown that women who perform moderate to regular exercise have a 30-40 percent reduction in breast cancer.

Heart disease

It is one of the biggest causes of death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one in four deaths is due to heart disease.

Regular exercise can help to keep the heart strong.

Research has shown that regular exercise can affect mood in a positive way. This can lead to a better quality of life. It can help stop or reduce negative feelings that sometimes come with aging.

When it comes to exercising, the best thing you can do is find a routine.  Try to exercise the same time of day, everyday.  This will give you the ability to create a regimen and you will enjoy following it.  Condition your mind to be ready to exercise as it becomes a part of your daily routine.

      Hi Eugene,

We would love to be able to serve you in San Francisco. I’m guessing the cost of rent may be the issue. It looks like Albany, CA is our closest location. Is that too far? Have you called them to discuss your options?
