Feedback or static from your hearing aids
If you hear any sort of feedback – whether chirping, whistling or some other interfering noise – it may be the result of a malfunctioning internal tube or a crack in one of the vents. These repairs will need to be addressed by a trained specialist.

The hearing aid appears to be dead

If a battery doesn’t appear to be the cause, there may be something else blocking the sound from your hearing aids. In these cases, properly cleaning your equipment will often solve the problem. Low or distorted sound from your hearing aids
Distorted sounds could be caused by a low battery (see previous section) or because the instrument is damaged. If replacing the battery doesn’t solve your problem, your hearing aids may require repair by a qualified professional.
How to keep your hearing aids working
Over time, your hearing aids will likely become exposed to earwax and debris-collecting moisture. Here are a few things you can do to keep your hearing aids functioning at their best for as long as possible:
- Review all the recommended maintenance procedures listed in the user manual provided with your hearing aid.
- Clean your hearing aid as instructed with a soft, dry cloth to get rid of earwax, dust, and debris.
- Always store the device in a sealed container to prevent it from getting wet.
- Have your ears cleaned regularly to prevent earwax from building up and clogging the hearing aid.
- Switch off the hearing aid when you're not using it to prolong battery life.
- Don't wear your hearing aid in the shower or swimming pool, or while using a hair dryer or hairspray.
